Fairfield Teen Adapts Invention to Comfort Sick Kids during Pandemic

Fairfield teen inventor Ella Casano has adapted her Medi Teddy product, originally designed to help children in hospitals, to better meet the needs of healthcare facilities during the pandemic. The silicone version of the bear-shaped IV bag cover is easier to clean and can be used by more patients. Despite the changes, the product is thriving and making a difference for kids in hospitals across the U.S. and in thirty countries.

Casano, a recent high school graduate preparing to enter Stanford University, is currently fundraising to provide the Medi Teddys to families for free. She has learned valuable skills in entrepreneurship and hopes to continue growing her venture while pursuing her dream of becoming a doctor. The project has brought comfort and smiles to many young patients, making their hospital experience a little less daunting. Casano’s dedication to helping others and her innovative spirit are shining through in her efforts to support children going through challenging medical treatments.
