A winter weather advisory has been issued for most of Connecticut on Saturday as freezing rain is expected to create slippery conditions. The advisory is in effect from 4 a.m. to 1 p.m. for all areas of the state except the immediate shoreline. Freezing rain is expected to begin overnight as temperatures hover around the freezing mark, potentially leaving an icy coating on the ground.
Temperatures are expected to rise into the upper 30s to near 40 on Saturday before milder temperatures arrive on Sunday. Heavy rain is forecasted for later Sunday into Monday.
Monday will see above-average temperatures in the mid-50s, with mild weather continuing through New Year’s Day before cooler temperatures return by the end of the week. Residents are advised to use caution when traveling and take necessary precautions to stay safe during the icy conditions.
