The Finley School District in Finley, Washington is seeking additional funding through taxpayer-approved educational program and operations (EP&O) levies. The levies, if passed, are expected to bring in $2 million for staffing support and $200,000 for technology purposes. Superintendent Bryan Long emphasized the importance of these levies in ensuring that the district can continue to operate smoothly and provide necessary resources for students to learn effectively.
According to Long, the current financial support for the schools is insufficient, and without the levies, the district would face significant challenges in maintaining its operations. The funding from the second levy would specifically address the need for updated technology in the district, including replacing chromebooks, WiFi points, and servers. Long expressed pride in the students of the district and emphasized the role of the community in supporting education.
The EP&O levies will require a 50% plus one vote to pass and, if approved, would go into effect in April 2026. Voters will receive information pamphlets at the end of January and will have two weeks to cast their votes before the window closes on February 11. Long encouraged community members to support the school district in continuing to provide quality education to students.”It takes all of us to make it happen,” he said.
