Norwich Man Indicted on Cocaine Distribution and Firearm Possession Charges

Javon Morse, 29, of Norwich, was indicted on Tuesday for cocaine distribution and firearm possession charges. This came after he was arrested by Norwich police last October for possessing nearly a kilogram of cocaine, narcotic pills, handguns, and other items related to drug trafficking. Morse was on federal supervised release at the time, having previously been sentenced for trafficking cocaine in 2017.

The indictment, returned on Dec. 17, charged Morse with possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine, which carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and a maximum of 40 years. He was also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years.

Morse’s case highlights the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and firearms offenses in the Norwich area, according to U.S. Attorney Vanessa Roberts Avery. Morse faces a lengthy prison sentence if convicted on the charges.
