The Connecticut State Treasurer’s Office is encouraging state residents to check the state’s Big List for unclaimed funds totaling over $1 billion. The office has already returned more than $1.1 billion to residents, including payroll checks, refunds, bank accounts, liquidated securities, and insurance proceeds. Claiming this property is free with proper evidence and can be done through the treasurer’s office website. Residents can search for their names on the list, select their property, click “claim,” and follow the process to receive their funds. For more information, individuals can call 1-800-833-7318 or mail the State of Connecticut, Office of the Treasurer, Unclaimed Property Division at PO Box 5065, Hartford, CT 06102. This initiative is aimed at helping residents improve their finances in the new year by reclaiming funds that belong to them.
