Preventing Frozen Pipes in Connecticut’s Cold Weather this Week

Connecticut has been experiencing a week of harsh cold weather, leading to a surge in frozen pipe issues for many residents. Plumbers, like Manny Galarza of A-Team Plumbing, have been working around the clock to keep up with repair requests. The extreme temperatures have caused pipes to freeze and burst, resulting in costly repairs for homeowners. Galarza has even encountered situations where the damage was so severe that ceilings caved in due to frozen pipes.

To prevent such incidents, A-Team Plumbing recommends keeping thermostats above 65 degrees, allowing faucets to drip, opening cabinets to let in heat, insulating pipes, and using heat tape. Despite efforts to prevent frozen pipes, the windy conditions have been exacerbating the issue. Galarza warns against using too much heat when trying to unfreeze pipes, as it can lead to additional complications. With the current weather forecast predicting more freezing temperatures, plumbers are advising residents to take precautions to avoid costly repairs.
