Connecticut-based relief organization Americares has announced plans to offer support to health care providers responding to the wildfires engulfing the Los Angeles area. With the priority of ensuring that health care providers have the resources needed to continue delivering care during this crisis, Americares aims to protect the health of communities affected by the fires. By supporting clinics on the front lines and working closely with more than 70 partner health facilities in the affected areas, Americares is launching a rapid response to help restore access to health services, especially those most urgent. The organization is prepared to deliver essential medicines, medical supplies, hygiene kits, and first aid items to impacted communities. As of Thursday morning, the wildfires have burned over 28,500 acres, resulting in at least five deaths, injuries, and the destruction of over 2,000 structures, with at least 130,000 residents under evacuation orders.
