A child’s quick thinking saved the day in North Haven, Connecticut when they called 911 to report a home invasion on Avalon Haven Dr. The child reported an unknown male armed with a knife had entered their home, prompting police to respond immediately.

The armed intruder, who was dressed in dark clothing, wearing a ski mask, and had hand wraps covering his hands, fled the scene after being confronted by an adult male resident wielding an axe. Police later found and detained 44-year-old Demitrias Terrell, who was seen exiting a wooded area with a large knife, ski mask, and hand wraps commonly used for boxing in his possession.

Terrell was identified as the individual who had unlawfully entered the residence and now faces serious charges including home invasion, possession of a dangerous weapon, threatening in the first degree, three counts of risk of injury to a minor, and criminal attempt to commit robbery. He is being held on a $500,000 bond.

The North Haven Police Department commended the child caller for their quick actions, stating they are thankful that nobody was hurt. The department also praised the evening shift officers for their swift response in apprehending the suspect. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of reporting suspicious activities promptly to law enforcement authorities.
