UConn women’s basketball standout Paige Bueckers has been named to the watch list for the prestigious Nancy Lieberman Award, recognizing the top point guard in women’s NCAA Division I college basketball. Bueckers, a redshirt senior, has already earned numerous accolades in her career, including being named the preseason BIG EAST Player of the Year and a preseason AP-All-American.
Bueckers played a crucial role in leading the Huskies back to the NCAA Final Four in the 2023-24 season. She averaged 21.9 points per game and demonstrated exceptional skills on both ends of the floor. Bueckers was also the first freshman to win the Lieberman Award in 2021.
Fans will have the opportunity to participate in Fan Voting to support their favorite players throughout the selection process. The watch list of 20 players will be narrowed down to 10 in late January and then to just 5 in late February. The final winner will be chosen in March by a selection committee consisting of top women’s college basketball personnel, media members, head coaches, sports information directors, and Hall of Famers.
Bueckers’ inclusion on the Nancy Lieberman Award watch list is yet another recognition of her exceptional talent and contribution to UConn women’s basketball, further solidifying her status as one of the top players in the game.
