Versatile Poetiq, a visitor experience associate, emphasizes the significance of family in their journeys. "Their love for their children drove them to fight for a better world," Poetiq notes. The tour examines Douglass’s poignant memories, including the last encounter with his mother, Harriet Bailey, who left him a heart-shaped ginger cake, instilling in him a profound sense of love and determination.
Attendees will discover artifacts that reflect the lives of Stowe and Douglass, including items representing their struggles for dignity and freedom. The tour also celebrates Douglass’s wife, Anna, whose unwavering support was vital to his escape from slavery.
