Wedding Dress Prices Surge Amid Tariff Impacts
As the wedding industry grapples with rising costs, wedding gown prices are seeing a significant uptick, largely due to the ongoing tariff battle between the U.S. and China. Marissa Goktekin, owner of Bliss Bridal in Cheshire, has reported a stark increase in gown prices from designers, ranging from 15% to 20%. Previously, the average cost of a wedding dress at her boutique hovered around $1,500 to $1,600; however, recent figures now reflect prices nearing $2,000 or more.
To ease the financial strain on brides, Goktekin is opting to limit her own price increases to just 5%, ensuring clients remain comfortable while shopping. “We don’t want brides to break the bank,” she said, emphasizing the importance of affordability.
Potential brides like Nadege Lubin, who is preparing for her wedding in May 2026, are also feeling the pinch. Lubin hopes to stay under a $2,500 budget, although she has encountered dresses listed online for $5,000 to $10,000. Goktekin suggests that brides on tighter budgets explore discontinued or discounted racks, where they might find high-value options at significant savings.
