Ego Nwodim, a cast member of “Saturday Night Live,” celebrated the conclusion of the show’s iconic 50th season with a gathering in Studio 8H at Rockefeller Center, accompanied by host Scarlett Johansson, musical guest Bad Bunny, and fellow cast members. However, her pride was also tied to a significant event across the Atlantic. Nwodim donning a Crystal Palace jersey with her cousin, Eberechi Eze’s name on it, caught media attention. Earlier that day, Eze played a pivotal role in Crystal Palace’s historic victory, scoring the only goal in their 1-0 win over Manchester City in the FA Cup final, marking the club’s first major trophy in its 120-year history.
In a past interview, Eze shared their family connection, explaining how he gifted Nwodim one of his jerseys during her visit to London. Her jersey, which aligns with the club’s 2022/23 third kit, has been worn by Nwodim on other occasions, showcasing her support for her cousin. Both Nwodim and Eze share Igbo Nigerian heritage, with Eze hailing from South London and Nwodim from Baltimore.
Their achievements coincided on the same day: “SNL” wrapped up a lengthy run that began as a showcase for folk music and counterculture comedy, while Eze celebrated a victory at the iconic Wembley Stadium. In this unique intersection of family pride and entertainment, both Nwodim and Eze contributed to a momentous occasion in their respective fields.
