CT Weather: Saturday’s Forecast Calls for Strong to Severe Thunderstorms

Severe Weather Alert for Connecticut This Weekend

Connecticut residents are advised to prepare for strong thunderstorms on Saturday, with potential severe weather affecting outdoor plans, including prom and graduation events. The day has been marked as a “First Alert Weather Day” by WFSB 3 TV meteorologists, as forecasters expect thunderstorms to develop in the morning and again later in the afternoon and evening.

The initial wave of storms is expected as a warm front moves north, bringing risks of lightning, heavy rain, and strong wind gusts or hail. The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of Connecticut under a level 1 risk for severe weather, with western regions facing a level 2 risk.

Temperatures will hover in the 70s Saturday, but following the storms, a cold front may trigger another round of thunderstorms. Luckily, Sunday forecasts promise a sunny day with highs around 72°, although winds may gust up to 25 mph.

The week ahead will see cooler temperatures, reaching only the low 60s with increased chances of rain mid-week. Residents are encouraged to monitor the weather closely and seek shelter indoors if thunder is heard.

Stay safe and plan accordingly!
