UConn Duo Invited to NFL Rookie Mini-Camps

STORRS, Conn. – University of Connecticut football standouts Dal’Mont Gourdine and TJ Sheffield have received invitations to participate in NFL Rookie Mini-Camps this coming May, with Gourdine joining the Kansas City Chiefs and Sheffield heading to the Tennessee Titans.

Dal’Mont Gourdine, a defensive tackle hailing from North Charleston, SC, concluded an impressive four-year tenure at UConn. Throughout his career, Gourdine appeared in 48 games, accumulating 124 total tackles, including 13 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. Additionally, Gourdine demonstrated his defensive prowess with 12 pass break-ups and a blocked field goal.

On the offensive front, wide receiver TJ Sheffield, originally from Thompson’s Station, TN, transferred to UConn from Purdue for the 2024 season. He made an immediate impact, playing in all 13 games and achieving a career-high 54 receptions for 505 yards and three touchdowns. Sheffield’s standout performance came during the game against Temple, where he recorded nine catches for a remarkable 141 yards and one touchdown. On special teams, he led all FBS players with 34 punt returns, averaging 7.1 yards per return. Prior to UConn, Sheffield had an accomplished career at Purdue, playing in 46 games and notching 118 receptions for 1,209 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Both players now look to impress NFL scouts as they pursue their dreams of professional football, showcasing the talent cultivated at UConn. The invitations mark a significant milestone in their athletic careers, solidifying their statuses as promising prospects for the upcoming NFL season.
