Yamal Said, the drummer of the Texas rock band Lord Buffalo, was forcibly removed from a flight to Europe and detained by immigration authorities at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport on Monday. The band announced this incident via social media posts on Wednesday. Said, a Mexican citizen and lawful permanent resident of the U.S. with a green card, remains in custody, and the band has been unable to contact him.
In light of this situation, Lord Buffalo canceled its upcoming European tour, expressing heartbreak and devastation over the decision. They emphasized that their primary focus is on ensuring Said’s safety and securing his release. The band is currently working with an immigration lawyer to gain more information regarding Said’s legal status and situation.
In a subsequent update, the band informed followers that Said had obtained legal representation and that they are awaiting further developments. They acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding the case, stating that they have more questions than answers but are committed to keeping fans updated.
As of now, the Department of Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection have not publicly responded to the band’s allegations, and Lord Buffalo did not provide immediate comments regarding the situation.
