Pratt & Whitney Workers Continue Strike Amid Congressional Support

East Hartford, Conn. – Pratt & Whitney workers entered the fifth day of their strike on Friday, rallying under rainy skies as they demanded better wages and retirement benefits. Approximately 3,000 members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) rejected a proposed three-year contract from the aerospace giant. U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal joined the striking workers, expressing his solidarity with their cause.

The union leaders emphasized their fight for a "fair contract," particularly highlighting the company’s substantial profits, which increased by 41% last quarter. IAM International President Bryan Briant stated, "How long are we willing to fight? Forever!" Workers are seeking not only improved pay but also job security in light of the company’s commitment to invest in Connecticut.

In response, Pratt & Whitney management asserted their dedication to the state and claimed their prior contract offer would have retained job protections for union workers. They stated, "Connecticut is our home," and expressed hopes for a quick resolution to the disruption.

With no negotiations currently underway, the workers demand a return to the bargaining table to secure what they believe they rightfully deserve.
