Tragic Incident: Person Struck and Killed by Amtrak Train in Mystic, Conn.
MYSTIC, Conn. — In a tragic event on Friday morning, a person was struck and killed by Amtrak Train 93 near Mystic around 11:11 a.m. The train was en route from Boston to Norfolk, Va. when the individual, reportedly trespassing on the tracks, came into contact with it.
Serious details were confirmed by the Groton Town Police Department, who reported that the encounter was fatal. Fortunately, there were no injuries among the passengers or train crew members.
Amtrak’s Senior PR Manager, Olivia Irwin, stated that the railroad company is cooperating with local law enforcement in the ongoing investigation. Groton police have also been assisting in the preliminary inquiries.
