21-year-old Todric McGee, standout football player for Missouri State, passes away

Missouri State University safety Todric McGee, 21, tragically died from a possible accidental and self-inflicted gunshot wound. McGee was found at his home by authorities responding to a wellness check and was transported to the hospital with serious injuries where he later passed away. McGee was entering his fifth season with the Bears and was a starting safety in 2023 and 2024, earning all-conference honors in 2023. Head coach Ryan Beard expressed shock and mourning over McGee’s death, asking for privacy for his family and the football team, and requesting prayers for McGee and those who loved him. McGee, originally from Wichita, Kansas, attended Wichita Northwest High School before joining the Bears football team. The university reported the news of his death on Saturday, stating that he had died early that morning from injuries sustained at home on Friday. This is currently an active investigation, with the Springfield Police Department looking into the circumstances surrounding McGee’s death.
