A structure fire in Haddam, Connecticut spread to a nearby wooded area on Tinker Road, prompting response from the town, DEEP, and Mutual Aid partners. The fire originated as a car fire before spreading to a house and garage. While the fire was controlled, the single-story house was declared a total loss. Despite the efforts of all Middlesex County fire departments, the home was difficult to access and off the grid with no power. Authorities advise people to avoid the five-acre area affected by the fire, as DEEP has stepped in to assist in containment. A back burn fire was ignited to prevent the blaze from spreading further. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
