Huskies dominate Providence to clinch series victory


The UConn softball team dominated the Providence Friars with a 16-0 victory in their recent game. Payton Kinney pitched a scoreless 5.0 innings with six strikeouts, while Grace Jenkins hit two home runs, breaking the program record for single-season homers. UConn’s offense exploded for ten runs in the seventh inning, with Cat Petteys hitting a grand slam to tie a NCAA record. The team had back-to-back games with 15+ hits, showcasing their strong offensive capabilities. The pitching duo of Kinney and Hope Jenkins limited Providence to just two hits. Grace Jenkins and Lexi Hastings had standout performances, recording multi-hit and multi-RBI games. Kaitlyn Breslin also contributed with multiple hits and RBIs. This win marked the seventh shutout victory for UConn this season. The team has hit five or more home runs in a game three times this season.
