The Omega Seventh Day Adventist Church in New Haven, Conn., has reopened its food pantry after months of preparation. Church members worked diligently to provide food to families in need, with the pantry officially opening at 9 a.m. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held, drawing crowds of community members eager to show their support.
Shaunette James, a church member, expressed her joy in being able to help those in need, saying, “Mission accomplished, to know that folks are walking away today with their food in their luggage saying ‘I’m going home to cook a good meal’ makes our heart glad.” The food pantry will be open every first and third Sunday of the month at 278 Winthrop Ave. from noon to 1:30 p.m.
The reopening of the food pantry is a great step towards providing essential resources to the community and addressing food insecurity in the area. The church members’ dedication to helping those in need is a testament to their commitment to serving their community.
