Two individuals hospitalized, feline lost and 13 forced out after Hartford fire – NBC Connecticut

One resident is being treated for smoke inhalation and a firefighter suffered minor injuries after a fire in a multifamily home in Hartford’s Blue Hills neighborhood. The blaze, which started on the third floor, prompted a response from firefighters around 3:30 a.m. Crews were able to control the fire within an hour and a half, but the third floor sustained severe damage, while the second and first floors were affected by water and smoke. Thirteen residents, including nine adults and four children, have been displaced. Fortunately, all occupants were able to evacuate the building safely. The fire department is also currently searching for a missing cat from the second floor. The fire marshal is investigating the incident to determine the cause. Despite the challenges faced due to storage on the third floor, firefighters were able to contain the fire successfully. The community has come together to support those impacted by the fire and efforts are underway to help those affected find temporary housing.
