Star wide receiver Cooper Kupp has signed a three-year, $45 million contract with the Seattle Seahawks after being released by the Los Angeles Rams. Kupp, who was the Super Bowl 56 MVP, will be returning to his home state of Washington to play for Seattle. The Seahawks will look to Kupp to help replace DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, who are no longer with the team.
Kupp, a former star at Eastern Washington, had a standout season in 2021 when he was named the AP Offensive Player of the Year after leading the league in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns. Despite battling injuries in recent seasons, Kupp has been a dominant force on the field.
The Rams, on the other hand, have added Davante Adams to their roster, signing the All-Pro wide receiver to a two-year deal. With the emergence of Puka Nacua as a top receiver, Kupp’s role in the Rams’ offense had been diminished.
Kupp was drafted by the Rams in 2017 and had a successful career with the team, amassing over 7,000 receiving yards and 57 touchdowns. His signing with the Seahawks adds a dynamic playmaker to Seattle’s offense as they look to compete in the competitive NFC West.
