Search efforts are underway in Massachusetts after a vehicle belonging to the family of a missing East Windsor man was found in the Connecticut River. Daniel Callahan, 26, had attended a party in Chicopee, Massachusetts and was reported missing the next morning. A car registered to Callahan’s father was discovered near the riverbank, prompting a search for Callahan.
The Massachusetts State Police Dive Team located the submerged black Toyota Camry and removed it from the river. It is unclear if Callahan was driving the vehicle when it went into the river. The search involves multiple agencies, including the Hamden County Sheriff’s Office, the Chicopee Police Department, the Chicopee Fire Department, and the Western Massachusetts Regional Dive Team.
Sheriff Nick Cocchi stated that all available resources are being utilized in the search effort, which is focused on the area where the car was found as well as locations downriver. The volatile river conditions are complicating the search, but authorities remain dedicated to finding Callahan. The distraught family is eagerly awaiting news about their missing loved one.
