Chicopee Police have located a vehicle in the Connecticut River off Walter Street, matching the license plate of 26-year-old Daniel Callahan of East Windsor, Connecticut. Callahan was last seen leaving a home in Chicopee on Saturday and reported missing in East Windsor Sunday. It is unclear if he was the operator of the vehicle when it entered the river. Witnesses reported a man entering the river on Walter Street on Saturday, but he could not be found when officers arrived. Evidence suggests a possible car crash at the end of Walter Street, leading detectives to believe someone drove their vehicle into the river. The Massachusetts State Police Dive Team located the vehicle and removed it from the river. The investigation involves Chicopee Police Crash Reconstruction Team, Hampden County District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police, and East Windsor Police Department. The investigation is ongoing.
