Strong Named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week

UConn women’s basketball forward Sarah Strong has been named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the 10th time this season. She led the team in scoring, rebounding, blocks, and steals in two wins last week. Strong shot an impressive 72.0% from the field in the victories.

In a game against No. 22 Creighton, Strong put up 22 points, nine rebounds, three blocks, and three steals. She followed that performance with 17 points, five rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and three steals in a win over Marquette.

Throughout the BIG EAST season, Strong has averaged 15.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, leading the conference with a 59.9% shooting percentage. UConn, with a record of 28-3 and 18-0 in the BIG EAST, is the No. 1 seed in the upcoming BIG EAST Tournament.

The Huskies will face either St. John’s or Butler in the quarterfinals on Saturday at noon on FS1. Strong’s standout performances on the court have been a key factor in UConn’s success this season, and fans will be eagerly watching to see if she can continue her impressive play in the upcoming tournament games.
