Huskies Dominate Rhody in Hall of Fame Enshrinement Game


The UConn men’s basketball team kicked off their season with a dominant 102-75 victory over Rhode Island at the Inaugural Hall of Fame Enshrinement Game at Mohegan Sun Arena. The game was a waiver-approved Charity Exhibition for Coaches vs. Cancer. Solo Ball led the Huskies with 18 points, followed by Aidan Mahaney with 17 points and Alex Karaban with 13 points. Five-star freshman Liam McNeeley also impressed with 10 points in his UConn debut. Hassan Diarra contributed a game-high nine assists while Tarris Reed Jr. grabbed 10 rebounds.

The Huskies started strong but allowed Rhode Island to take the lead in the first half. However, they regained control with a 10-point lead in the second half. UConn maintained a strong performance throughout, never letting their lead dip below 20 points. They finished the game shooting 55.4% from the field and 46.4% from 3-point range.

This exhibition marked the first unofficial appearance for UConn’s five newcomers. Head coach Dan Hurley faced his former team, Rhode Island, for the first time. The Huskies will now prepare for their next game against Sacred Heart on November 6th, where they will unveil their sixth national championship banner and kick off the 2024-25 season at Gampel Pavilion. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. It was an impressive start to the season for the UConn men’s basketball team, setting high expectations for the games to come.
