Three people were displaced and a dog was rescued following a fire at a home in Meriden on Friday. Firefighters arrived at Fairmount Street at 11:30 a.m. to find a man trapped on the roof with fire coming from the second floor. The man had gone back inside to look for his dog, but was unable to locate him. Firefighters entered the burning home, found the dog, and successfully rescued it. The dog received oxygen and was taken to a nearby animal hospital. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident and all occupants were able to safely exit the home. Three individuals were displaced as a result of the fire, which remains under investigation. The quick response and actions of the firefighters ensured that everyone made it out safely, including the beloved family pet.
