A major fentanyl dealer has been arrested in Connecticut after being connected to two overdose deaths in the state. Daqwon Graham, also known as “Seagull” and “Energy,” was found with nearly a pound of the opiate in his possession and could potentially face up to 40 years in prison. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut stated that Graham was a large-scale fentanyl distributor in Fairfield County. Investigations linked him to the deaths of a male victim in Branford in 2023 and a female victim in Shelton in 2024.
Despite a 16% decrease in overdose deaths in Connecticut from 2023-24, the issue remains prevalent according to state health officials. Graham has been charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and for using a communications device to facilitate drug trafficking. He appeared in federal court in Bridgeport and was ordered to be held in custody. The arrest is a significant step in combating the ongoing opioid epidemic in the state.
