Stafford renews contract with Los Angeles Rams for fifth season

Los Angeles Rams fans can breathe a sigh of relief as quarterback Matthew Stafford has signed on to remain with the team through the 2025-2026 season. The 37-year-old confirmed the news in a post shared on X, with the caption “ALLOW ME TO REINTRODUCE MYSELF.”

While the terms of Stafford’s new contract have not been disclosed, it is reported that his base salary of $23 million is lower compared to his peers, considering his accomplishments on the field. Stafford had two years left on the $160 million contract extension he signed in 2022.

Stafford had also entertained discussions with the Giants and the Raiders before ultimately deciding to stay with the Rams. During his time with the team, he has achieved a record of 34-23 and has a 5-2 playoff record. In 2021, Stafford led the Rams to their first Super Bowl victory since 2000, securing the second title in franchise history.

Throughout his 16 seasons in the NFL, Stafford has been a two-time Pro Bowler, NFL comeback player of the year in 2011, and named a member of the all-time team for the Detroit Lions. Rams fans can now look forward to more exciting moments on the field with Stafford leading the team for the foreseeable future.
