INVISTA, a subsidiary of Koch Industries, recently opened a new $13 million research center in Katy, Texas. The Texas Technology Center is a 40,000-square-foot facility where over 50 researchers and engineers will focus on developing new materials and improving manufacturing processes, specifically in the Nylon and Propylene business. These advancements will benefit industries such as automotive, medical equipment, airbags, food packaging, and clothing.
Jerry Grunewald, who heads research and development for the company, stated that the center will serve as a hub for innovative projects and partnerships to keep the company at the forefront of the industry. The specialists at the center will utilize advanced equipment to test and develop new materials for everyday products like clothing, carpets, and plastics.
The opening ceremony was attended by the company’s CEO, Brook Vickery, who praised the world-class R&D facilities at the Texas Technology Center. The center’s capabilities under one roof in Texas are expected to accelerate the team’s contributions to advancing the businesses.
This new research center makes Katy an integral part of INVISTA’s global innovation network, joining existing research facilities in Shanghai, China; Ontario, Canada; and Longview, Texas. The center is poised to drive technological advancements and create high-tech jobs in the region, further solidifying INVISTA’s position as a leader in the industry.
