Branford resident apprehended with 9 pounds of marijuana


A Branford man, Cody Mallard, was arrested in Watertown following a traffic stop where approximately nine pounds of marijuana were seized. Mallard, 31, was charged with operating a drug factory, sale and possession of a controlled substance, and violation of a protective order. In addition to the marijuana, police also seized scales, packaging materials, and $2,136 in cash. Mallard was issued a $30,000 bond and is set to appear in Waterbury Superior Court. The arrest took place around midnight near Sylvan Lake Road and Falls Avenue in Watertown. Watertown police conducted the traffic stop and made the arrest. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the source and destination of the drugs.
