Rudy Giuliani has satisfied a judgment against him for defaming two former Georgia election workers by falsely accusing them of election fraud in the aftermath of the 2020 presidential contest. The judgment was satisfied after Giuliani reached a settlement agreement with Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Wandrea “Shaye” Moss. A jury had initially awarded the former election workers $148 million in damages, which was later reduced to $146 million by a judge. The judgment also included interest and attorneys fees. Giuliani, a former mayor of New York City, was found to have failed to comply with orders surrounding the judgment, leading to a federal judge’s criticism. The falsehoods spread by Giuliani resulted in death threats and harassment for the women. Freeman and Moss spoke out about the impact the defamation had on their lives, expressing fear and stress from the harassment. A settlement agreement was reached between Giuliani and the women in January, with Freeman and Moss stating that the past four years had been a living nightmare for them. Giuliani was found to have made false statements about the women, leading to the defamation lawsuit and subsequent judgment against him.
