Shaun White’s New Snowboard League Releases Schedule on NBC Connecticut

Shaun White, the three-time Olympic gold medalist, is set to launch his new halfpipe league, The Snow League, in Aspen, Colorado next week. The league will feature a four-stop schedule, including a trip to China’s Secret Garden snowpark, where White finished his career at the 2022 Beijing Olympics. The league offers a $1.6 million prize pool, with $370,000 for each event and $160,000 for the champions. The competition will be broadcast live on Peacock.

The league aims to bring together the world’s top riders in a sport that has lacked a clear circuit and struggled to offer top prize money. Notable riders invited to compete include Olympic medalists Ayumu Hirano, Queralt Castellet, and Sena Tomita, among others.

The event will feature a unique head-to-head format in the finals, with riders going up against each other in a best-of-3 bracket-style tournament. Freeskiing will also be added to the league starting with the event in China.

The Snow League is a significant step forward for the sport, providing a platform for top riders to compete and showcasing the excitement and skill of snowboarding and freeskiing. With White’s expertise and passion for the sport, the league is poised to become a leading competition in the snowboarding world.
