Former University of Connecticut football coach, Tom Jackson, passed away at the age of 76 in Sarasota, Florida. Jackson had a successful coaching career at UConn from 1983-93, with a 62-57 record and three Yankee Conference championships. He was a Penn State graduate and a tri-captain of the 1969 Orange Bowl champion Nittany Lions.
After retiring from coaching, Jackson worked in human resources in Florida. He is survived by his wife, daughter, and extended family members. A funeral mass will be held on February 6, 2025, at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.
Jackson’s legacy in football will be remembered by his players, colleagues, and fans. He leaves behind a lasting impact on the UConn football program and the sport of football in general. Contributions to the Building Fund at Our Lady of the Angels are encouraged in lieu of flowers to honor Jackson’s memory.
