UConn Softball Team Heads to Mercer University for MUSB Invitational
STORRS, Conn. – The UConn softball team is set to compete in the MUSB Invitational at Mercer University this weekend. The Huskies will kick off the tournament with a game against Jacksonville on Friday, February 21, followed by matchups against Middle Tennessee, Alabama State (twice), and Mercer.
After a successful 3-1 weekend at the JU/UNF Invitational, UConn’s offense has been a driving force behind their success, ranking highly in hits, home runs, scoring, and total runs in the BIG EAST. Senior outfielder Lexi Hastings and junior catcher Grace Jenkins have been standouts in the lineup, with Hastings earning a spot on the BIG EAST Honor Roll for her performance last week.
Facing tough competition, UConn will take on Jacksonville, Middle Tennessee, Alabama State, and Mercer during the Invitational. Jacksonville comes in on a winning streak, while Middle Tennessee and Alabama State are looking to turn their losing streaks around. Mercer, led by senior infielder Tori Hedgecock, will be a challenging opponent for the Huskies.
