This has made his treatment more complex, involving corticosteroids and antibiotics. Despite his health issues, he remains in good spirits and has not lost his sense of humor. The Pope has had several health problems in recent years, including surgery for diverticulitis and hernia repair in 2021 and 2023, respectively. He has also experienced influenza, respiratory infections, and falls, which have led to the use of a wheelchair due to back and knee pain.
