Bull from Connecticut’s Scottish Highlands goes missing in Litchfield County

A Scottish Highlands bull has been wandering around rural western Connecticut for over a month, delighting locals but worrying its owners. The majestic bull has been spotted in Litchfield County, with its most recent sighting in New Milford. Despite efforts to corral the bull, including local animal control officers, its owners have been unsuccessful due to the cold winter weather and the bull’s fear.

The bull’s owners, Jo Ann Joray, have been receiving reports of sightings from concerned residents, but have been unable to capture the animal. The bull, a Scottish Highland breed known for its resilience to weather conditions, has been living outside in freezing temperatures, leading to worries about its well-being.

This is not the first time a bovine has captured the attention of Connecticut residents, as ‘Buddy’ the beefalo managed to escape from a slaughterhouse and live off the land for over eight months in 2021 before being rehomed in Florida. As the Scottish Highlands bull roams free, residents are hopeful for a similar happy ending.
