Connecticut’s sports betting handle soared by 13.1% year-over-year in January, reaching $229.3 million, the second-highest ever behind December 2024. Online sports betting operators generated $218.9 million of the total handle, with FanDuel leading the way with a $100.3 million handle and $12.6 million in revenue. DraftKings and Fanatics Sportsbook also saw impressive gains.
The state’s legal sports betting operators reported a gross revenue of $22.9 million, an 8.2% increase from the previous year. This helped Connecticut collect $3.1 million in tax revenue, nearly double December’s haul.
Legislative efforts are underway in 2025 to expand gaming options in Connecticut. House Bill 651 aims to legalize wagering on in-state college teams, while SB 1235 seeks to crackdown on simulated online gaming and sports wagering.
Despite challenges, such as an abysmal win rate in December, Connecticut’s sports betting market is showing promise with strong revenue numbers. As sports betting continues to evolve in the state, it will be interesting to see how these legislative efforts and industry trends shape the future of sports betting in Connecticut.
