CT father’s family files claims against FAA and US Army after his death in DC plane crash – NBC Connecticut

Connecticut family files $250M pre-case claims against FAA, US Army after plane crash.

The family of Connecticut father, Casey Crafton, who died in a midair plane crash near Reagan National last month has filed $250 million pre-case claims against the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the U.S. Army. Crafton, a husband and father of three sons, was among 67 people who died when a flight from Kansas collided with a military helicopter over the Potomac River.

Clifford Law Offices, representing the family, highlighted communication lapses between air traffic control and the aircraft. Crafton, a coach and volunteer in his community, is remembered as a loving husband and father. The law office notes that the federal government has six months to act on the claims, with the option to file lawsuits in federal district court within two years.

Crafton, who studied aviation management and worked as a technical support manager at an aviation consulting firm, left a lasting impact on his community. The Montville Youth Soccer Club praised Crafton as a valued volunteer who enriched the lives of those he touched. The FAA declined to comment on the pending litigation.
