Goshen man faces 3 animal cruelty charges after arrest

Tyler Grimes, a 40-year-old resident of Goshen, was arrested by state police on Friday for three counts of animal cruelty. This arrest came after an animal control complaint was made against Grimes in August, when his dog Gonzo had run away.

Upon arriving at Grimes’ home, police discovered a lack of basic maintenance and a strong odor of decay. Inside, they found a dead pitbull surrounded by fecal matter and lying in its own intestines, with a cord from a curtain draped around its neck. They also found a malnourished cat and another pitbull that was alive.

Grimes was taken into custody on an active arrest warrant on February 14 following a traffic stop in Torrington. He is facing three counts of cruelty to animals and is being held on a $75,000 bond. Advocates are calling for more action from the town council in Cheshire regarding animal control allegations.
