Hartford prepares for third weekend of snowfalls

As Connecticut faces yet another winter storm, plow truck drivers are working long shifts to keep the roads safe. Local and state officials have been well prepared, using over 8,000 gallons of brine and one million pounds of salt in Hartford alone. Mayor Arunan Arulampalam expressed concerns about the ice in this storm, highlighting the need for caution.

State crews, contractors, and DPW plow drivers are expected to have a long night clearing the roads. Hartford has 30 trucks and over 100 people involved in their snow removal operation. Despite the cost of overtime, Mayor Arulampalam emphasized the importance of keeping people safe.

With icy conditions leading to accidents, the Department of Transportation advised drivers to take it slow and be cautious. Mayor Arulampalam urged residents to stay safe and off the roads if possible. Despite the challenges posed by the storm, officials are working hard to ensure that the roads remain clear and safe for everyone.
