Local and state leaders in New Haven announced new pizza-inspired initiatives on National Pizza Day. Among the initiatives include the Pizza Capital Trail, a curated list of Connecticut’s top 100 pizzerias, a pizza-inspired art installation at Tweed New Haven Airport, custom-designed Nike Air Jordan 1’s for auction, a pizza-queen throne dedicated to Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, a fashion show featuring pizza-themed designs, a record-setting pizza party event, and more.
The city’s over 75 pizza-serving establishments provide thousands of jobs and bring in over $100 million in annual sales. New Haven’s draw is at an all-time high, attracting over 2 million customers each year. The announcements were made at a special event at BAR with Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Mayor Justin Elicker in attendance. The official National Pizza Day is on February 9th. These initiatives aim to celebrate New Haven’s status as the Pizza Capital of the United States and promote local businesses and tourism.
