NBC Connecticut reports that Josh Allen surpasses Lamar Jackson to win award

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has been named the NFL MVP for the first time in his career. In a surprising twist at the end of the 2025 NFL Honors program, Allen received 27 first-place votes, compared to Lamar Jackson’s 23, ultimately winning the award with 383 points to Jackson’s 362. This victory came as a shock to many, as Jackson was expected to take home the award.

Allen’s impressive season included throwing for 3,731 yards, 28 touchdowns, and only six interceptions, along with rushing for 531 yards and 12 touchdowns. His performance helped the Bills secure the AFC East title for the fifth consecutive year. On the other hand, Jackson also had a stellar season, recording career-high passing yards and touchdowns.

The Bills finished the season with a 13-4 record, securing the AFC’s No. 2 seed, while the Ravens grabbed the No. 3 seed with a 12-5 record. Although Allen and Jackson faced off in the divisional round, with Allen’s side coming out on top, the MVP award is based solely on regular-season performance.
