Invitation for Young Girls to Attend Special USJ Event Celebrating Female Athletics

The University of Saint Joseph is hosting a free clinic in celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. The event will be held in the Auxiliary Gymnasium inside the O’Connell Athletic Center from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to try out various sports including basketball, soccer, lacrosse, volleyball, softball, field hockey, tennis, and for the first time, swimming with the USJ swimming and diving team in the Bruyette Natatorium.

The annual event, which has been hosted by USJ for several years, aims to promote the importance of girls’ participation in sports and the lifelong benefits of playing sports. This year, the Women’s Sports Foundation, which organizes National Girls and Women in Sports Day, is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

Participants can register for the event online and check-in starts at 10 a.m. Parents are welcome to stay and watch from the walking indoor track above the gymnasium. The swimming portion of the event will take place from noon to 12:30 p.m., followed by a free lunch for participants.

For more information or to register for National Girls and Women in Sports Day at USJ, contact Assistant Athletic Director Megan Bosworth or Aquatics Director Alex Albert. This event provides a great opportunity for young girls to try out different sports and learn about the benefits of being active and involved in sports.
