Huskies come from behind to defeat DePaul at XL Center


The No. 25 UConn men’s basketball team staged a second-half comeback to defeat DePaul by a score of 72-61 at the XL Center. The Huskies were down by as many as 14 points in the first half before storming back to outscore DePaul by 19 points in the second half. Solo Ball and Tarris Reed Jr. led UConn with 16 points each, while Jaylin Stewart added 15. Aidan Mahaney also contributed 10 points off the bench. Star player Alex Karaban struggled with his shot but still managed to score eight points, a career-high eight assists, and six rebounds in the win.

The victory marked UConn’s 20th consecutive win against DePaul and concluded the regular season series between the two teams. Layden Blocker led DePaul with 18 points, and CJ Gunn added 14.

UConn started the game slowly, shooting poorly from the floor and trailing DePaul by 8 points at halftime. However, they turned things around in the second half, going on a 14-0 run to take the lead and secure the win. UConn shot 43.6% from the floor and held DePaul to 30% shooting in the second half.

With this win, UConn improves to 15-6 overall and 7-3 in the BIG EAST conference. Their next game will be on the road against No. 9 Marquette in a Top-25 showdown on Saturday night. The Huskies have now won 16 straight games at the XL Center and have a 21-1 all-time record against DePaul.
