Hartford Man Reunites with Paramedics Who Rescued Him – NBC Connecticut

70-year-old Clifton Brandon recently reunited with the paramedics who saved his life by giving him a blood transfusion in May. When paramedics Alexander Megquier and Marnie Crosskey arrived at Brandon’s Hartford apartment, they found him in critical condition with a significant loss of blood. Quickly administering a lifesaving blood transfusion, Brandon’s condition improved dramatically. Only 1.2% of paramedics in New England can perform this life-saving procedure, making the Greater Hartford program by AMR a crucial resource in emergency medical care.

Dr. John Pettini, EMS medical director at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, highlighted the importance of bringing blood transfusions to the field to decrease response time and save lives. Since the program started in 2020, AMR has completed 130 blood transfusions in the field. Brandon expressed his gratitude to the paramedics for being there and saving his life, calling the experience a blessing. The successful outcome of this emergency emphasizes the vital role of trained paramedics and advanced medical procedures in providing critical care in life-threatening situations.
