Three teenagers were arrested in New Haven after allegedly stealing a car at gunpoint. The incident occurred in the area of Monroe and Peck streets, where multiple men approached a person and demanded they get out of their vehicle, with one individual brandishing a gun. The stolen car was later spotted near the Fair Haven substation and followed onto Interstate 91, where it crashed near exit 8.
The teens fled the scene but were apprehended shortly after. A gun was discovered in the stolen vehicle and one of the suspects was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. They are facing charges including robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, larceny of a motor vehicle, and more. The driver will also be charged with engaging police in pursuit and reckless driving.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the New Haven Police Department is working to gather more information about the carjacking.
