Parents oppose proposal for consolidated Wallingford high school – NBC Connecticut

A meeting held on Monday night in Wallingford focused on the future of the town’s high schools, particularly the proposed consolidation of Lyman Hall and Sheehan High Schools into a new building for all 1,500 students. Representatives from architecture firm SLAM Collaborative and Colliers answered questions about the draft of educational specifications for One New Wallingford High School. The project, preliminarily approved in 2023, would include modern classrooms, shared faculty space, and themed spaces for technical education, culinary, and more.

However, some parents expressed concerns about classroom sizes and the potential impact on individualized teaching approaches. A Facebook group called “Wallingford Citizens Opposed To One High School” has been formed, and community input is being explored before any decisions are made. The location and cost of the project are still under discussion, with some state reimbursement expected. The town council did not provide a comment on the project.
