Ellington woman dies after snowmobile crash in Stafford

An Ellington woman, identified as 48-year-old Jamie Gallicchio, has passed away after being injured in a snowmobile crash in Stafford on Wednesday. The incident took place at Sun Valley Resort, where Gallicchio was thrown from the snowmobile and sustained serious injuries. She was initially taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital and later transferred to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford via LifeStar, where she tragically succumbed to her injuries before 7 p.m.

Her passenger, a 45-year-old man from West Springfield, Massachusetts, suffered minor injuries and declined medical treatment. The authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact Trooper Nicholas Miranda at Troop C. Currently, there are no known witnesses to the incident.

The community is mourning the loss of Gallicchio and our thoughts are with her family and friends during this difficult time.
